ACCOUNTANCY FIRM PARTNER TO WRITE ABOUT OUTLANDER PHEV
A MITSUBISHI dealership in Crawley is giving an accountancy firm a long-term loan of an award-winning plug-in hybrid SUV to show how the vehicle really does make financial sense.
Gatwick Mitsubishi is lending Ashdown Hurrey an Outlander PHEV for a year and partner Tamsyn Rayner-Vincent is the lucky recipient. She’ll be describing in the company’s newsletter exactly what it’s like as she experiences in detail the vehicle’s fantastic environmental credentials and phenomenal economy.
The Outlander PHEV – which is the world’s first plug-in hybrid SUV – was launched in the UK last year, and it quickly scooped Diesel Car’s Best Alternative Fuel Vehicle award, as well as Business Car’s Best Green Development gong in its Techie Awards.
Using both electric and petrol power, the Outlander PHEV has an electric range of 32½ miles, emits just 44g of CO2 per kilometre, and boasts an official combined fuel consumption figure of 148 miles per gallon. This means that no vehicle tax is payable plus it’s exempt from the London congestion charge.
It’s also eligible for the government’s £5,000 Plug-in Car Grant, and because the Benefit In Kind is just five per cent, it means a virtual pay rise of several thousand pounds a year for company car drivers.
Tamsyn, who is based at the accountancy firm’s offices in Wilton Road, Bexhill-on-Sea, said: ‘I feel incredibly lucky to have been chosen. I’m a working mum and Ashdown Hurrey has a top reputation to maintain, so it’s important to me that the Outlander PHEV will not only cope with the demands of family life but also impress our clients, and my initial feeling is that it will do both amply.
‘This is honestly so exciting! I’ve been looking forward to the vehicle arriving so much. I really can’t wait to get behind the wheel of the Outlander PHEV! I’m also looking forward to getting to grips with the positive financial implications of the car so that I can spread the word both inside and outside Ashdown Hurrey.
‘It looks smart and I can see that it’s going to be a great conversation piece. Once I’m able to tell people all about the advantages of driving an Outlander PHEV based on personal experience, then I’m sure there’ll be quite a few converts to it.’
Ben Brookbank, Operations Director at Gatwick Mitsubishi, which is based at BCL House in Gatwick Road, said: ‘We’re delighted to have this opportunity to showcase the many merits of the Outlander PHEV. It truly is a game-changer and we look forward to hearing how Tamsyn gets on with it. We’re confident, though, that it’ll prove a great asset as both a business and family vehicle.’
