Apprentice Technician

What will the you be doing?

The Kia Advanced Apprenticeship Programme is designed to train and develop you in a way that enables you to learn the core elements of your job role using advancing technology.

 

This is an exciting role with first-class training and outstanding long-term career prospects by earning industry recognised qualifications and experience.

Duties will include:

  • You will work alongside a designated Technician where you will be trained on vehicle investigation/diagnostics, light vehicle service and repair work.

  • You will be trained on warranty investigation and repair work to ensure we comply with Kia Warranty standards.

  • You will shadow MOT testing.

  • Other general technical duties and general housekeeping.

​

What training will I take and what qualification will I get at the end?

You will work towards achieving the Light Vehicle Technician Apprenticeship Standard at level 3. You will also be required to study towards achieving level 2 maths and English functional skills if you do not already hold equivalent qualifications.

​

The programme lasts for 39 months. The training incorporates underpinning knowledge in partnership and is managed by EMTEC Colleges. Throughout the duration of the programme you will be expected to travel to EMTEC’s training centre for 24 separate weeks to carry out skills training.

​

Regular visits to the dealership from EMTEC Vocational Learning Advisors will take place, who will observe all evidence opportunities that occur naturally in the workplace. You will be expected to engage in self-directed learning outside of normal working hours, which will be monitored and tracked through an online e-portal. You, your employer and provider are required to maintain a log book that captures progress over the programme.

​

You will achieve the following:

  • Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician (Light Vehicle) (ST0033/AP03) Standard

  • Level 3 Award in Automotive Refrigerant Handling (EC842-2006) QCF

  • Level 3 Award in Electric/Hybrid Vehicle System Repair and Replacement QCF

  • Kia Accreditation (Expert Star 1)

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

  • Possible permanent position on the completion of the apprenticeship.

  • Further opportunities to develop career to become a fully qualified master technician and MOT tester.

​

On completion of the apprenticeship the average salary of a light vehicle technician is anywhere between 24k-27k. While most experienced technicians may earn up to £35k per year.

Sales Executive

£45,000 OTE
New & Used Car Sales Executive

We are looking for a person who can deliver high levels of customer care and has at least 2 years sales experience although not necessarily in a car dealership as full training will be given. This will be both on-the-job as well as courses at Kia. You must live within 25 miles of our dealership.

 

As a Sales Executive the main purpose of your role is to maximise vehicle sales in line with agreed objectives.

 

Your main duties and responsibilities will be as follows:

  • To achieve personal targets in respect of vehicle sales and add-ons

  • To deliver excellent service to all customers and prospects

  • To prospect new and previous customers in line with agreed targets to maximise potential sales

  • To meet and greet all potential customers and ensure that their requirements are fully ascertained and that adequate information is obtained to ensure follow-up can be made

  • To conduct a full and professional sales presentation to all customers in line with their requirements, following the agreed sales process

  • To accurately appraise part exchange vehicles and obtain part exchange valuation from sales manager/controller.

  • To monitor the progress of sold orders, ensuring that vehicles are properly prepared and delivered on time and that customers are kept informed

  • To handover prepared vehicles to customers in line with company procedures ensuring that correct payment is made for vehicle before release

  • To ensure that the showroom, display areas, all stock vehicles and demonstrators are well presented at all times

  • To undertake all training as required by the company and franchise, in line with your job role

  • To assist in sales promotions and product launches

  • To attend regular sales meetings as required

​

Salary

The basic salary is between £15,000 - £18,000 p.a. dependent on experience with commission paid for the sale of new and used cars, accessories, finance plans, service plans and other add on products. OTE £35,000 - £45,000.

​

Hours

You would be expected to work an average of 5 and a quarter days per week including most Saturdays and some Sundays with a day off during the week. Normal opening hours are 08:30 to 18:00. As the role is customer-facing we would expect you to work around the needs of our customers to maintain a high level of satisfaction.

​

Minimum qualifications

  • GCSE Mathematics Grade C or equivalent

  • Full UK or European Driving Licence

​

Required skills

  • Minimum of 2 years customer facing experience preferred

  • Minimum 6 months experience of working with a customer computer database

​

Technician

Are you a Service Technician/Technician who has developed a technical skill set within a franchised dealer or independent garage environment and now looking to work with a fast-growing brand?

 

You will have the opportunity to work for an experienced franchise Service Leader and can benefit from manufacturer training, a great atmosphere and plenty of work to keep you productive! As a skilled vehicle technician you must hold skills and knowledge to undertake both minor and major mechanical faults (including engine repairs) and return vehicles back to manufacturer specification and standards.

 

We are welcoming applications from Technicians/Service Technicians who are NVQ level 2/3 trained or equivalent and have experience working within a busy volume franchised dealer environment or independent garage/dealer. If you have knowledge of the Kia brand that would be fantastic but not essential. You will require a Full UK drivers’ licence and have your own tools.

​

Depending on your skill level the role will involve

  • Utilising your mechanical knowledge to carry out repairs and maintenance on customer vehicles, including clutch replacement and cam belt replacement

  • Effectively and productively service and maintain customer vehicles from brake pads and tyres to oil and filter checks

  • Complete minor electrical work as and when required

  • Meet and discuss the vehicle and repairs needed with the customer when necessary

  • Mentor apprentices and support less experienced team members

  • Ability to complete a Vehicle Health Check (VHC) ensuring that the (VHC) video completion meets target and exceeds all Vehicle (VHC) KPIs

What you will need to succeed

  • Technical knowledge to allow you to confidently and safely carry out repairs and maintenance of customer vehicles

  • Demonstrate capability and confidence in using equipment within the workshop

  • Experience within a franchise dealer or independent garage working to the highest quality standards

  • Experience of working to productivity targets

  • Mentor & Coach apprentices and support less experienced team members

  • NVQ level 2/3 trained with work experience in a franchised dealer or independent garage

We are looking for a Parts Advisor to join our team to help support our busy Aftersales department. You may be new to the industry or have a proven track record within an Aftersales / Motor Vehicle environment. We employ the very best staff who can display excellent customer satisfaction, whilst making every contact with our company a great experience to ensure a long-lasting relationship.

This role requires you to be well-organised, has a strong attention to detail, is customer focused and who is confident in this Sales environment. Full product training will be given but prior knowledge of any of our brands would be advantageous. In exchange, you can expect a friendly working environment, a supporting team and benefits commensurate with an organisation of this scale. The Acorn Motor Group is growing so there will be opportunity for career advancement.

 

Your main duties and responsibilities will be as follows:

  • Work with Kia technicians to ensure parts and accessories are ordered on time

  • Answer customer phone calls

  • Produce and follow-up estimates

  • Check-in and allocate parts

  • Maintain order and cleanliness of parts stock, shelving and areas

  • Take and record payment for retail parts sold  

  • Other general duties as required

  • Offer Good customer service skills/ability at all times

Working Hours

Normal opening hours are 08:30 to 18:00, Monday to Friday. As the role is customer-facing we would expect you to work around the needs of our customers to maintain a high level of satisfaction. You may be expected to work occasionally on a weekend as required.

Required skills

You will be a friendly, outgoing person with a dedication to customer service. You'll enjoy working and learning in a team and a target focused environment, while also being equally comfortable with meeting new people or handling telephone calls. You will have an excellent computer skills with programs such as Outlook, Excel and Word.
